The Aesthetic Edge Q-Switch Laser Process
- First, your face will be cleaned, and then a thin layer of carbon will be applied.
- Once the carbon has solidified, the doctor will provide eye shields to protect your eyes from the laser.
- A low-energy laser will be used to heat up the carbon on your skin, causing it to bind.
- The laser will then be adjusted to a higher energy setting to break up the carbon into small particles.
- A smoke evacuator connected to the laser will remove the carbon, along with any debris and impurities.
- After the treatment, the treated area will be cleaned using cotton and saline.
- Start using your prescribed depigmenting cream or anti-acne cream 3 days after the procedure.
- Regularly apply sunscreen with at least SPF 50+ for several days following the treatment.
- Moisturize your skin twice a day to keep it hydrated.
- Refrain from using any retinol products for at least 5 days post-treatment.
- Avoid direct sun exposure, hot baths, steam baths, saunas, and swimming for a week after the procedure.
- Prevent friction on the treated area, especially after a tattoo removal procedure.
- Do not use any exfoliating or peeling treatments for at least a week following the procedure.
- Refrain from vigorous activities, smoking, and alcohol consumption during the recovery period.
Side Effects/Precautions for Q-Switch Laser
After the treatment, you may experience some flaking or dryness for a few days, which is normal. Individuals with sensitive skin might notice slight redness, typically lasting no more than an hour. While allergic responses to the Q-switch laser treatment are extremely rare, they are still possible.
It is advised not to undergo this treatment if you have an active bacterial, fungal, or viral skin condition such as herpes simplex. Additionally, this treatment is not suitable for individuals with active skin conditions like psoriasis or skin cancer. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should also avoid this treatment.
