Side effects, honestly

Redness, swelling and pinpoint bleeding

About this treatment

The vampire facial has an unhelpful name for something fairly rational. A small amount of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge, which separates it by density and concentrates the platelets into a layer of plasma. Platelets carry growth factors — the signalling molecules the body uses to start repair — and that concentrate is then returned into your skin.

What follows is a healing response in the dermis: new collagen laid down over the weeks after each session. That is why it works on acne scarring, which is a defect in the dermis that surface treatments cannot reach, and on the loss of firmness that reads as tired rather than lined skin.

The advantage over an injectable product is that the material is your own, so there is nothing to be allergic to.
