Are You a Good Candidate for Volite? An Honest Checklist

Volite tends to suit people whose concern is skin quality — skin that feels tight and dehydrated whatever they put on it, or fine surface lines that show in photographs — rather than facial shape. It is not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active infection at or near the treatment site, or where there is known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid. Candidacy itself is decided in person.
Most pages answering this question only write the first list. The second one matters more, because it is the part that changes what you should do next, so it is set out here in full rather than compressed into a footnote.
What does this treatment actually address?
Hydration, smoothness and fine surface lines — that is the whole remit.
Volite is hyaluronic acid delivered as many small micro-injections spread across an area. Hyaluronic acid placed within the skin holds water where a topical moisturiser cannot reach, which is why the effect lasts months rather than hours. Better-hydrated skin creases less, so fine lines soften. Patients typically describe skin that looks brighter and smoother.
Notice what is absent from that list: shape. It adds no contour and no volume. Knowing that before you arrive saves an entire conversation.
Which descriptions suggest it might suit me?
Three sentences come up again and again in consultation, and they are a reasonable self-test:
- "My skin feels tight and dehydrated no matter how much moisturiser I use."
- "Fine lines around my eyes show up in every photograph."
- "I want better skin quality, not a different face shape."
If one of those is close to how you would describe your own complaint, you are at least in the right area. The third is the most useful of the three, because it is the one that separates this from the treatments people usually arrive asking for by name.
The eye area is the most commonly treated region, for the straightforward reason that fine lines show there first. The neck, décolletage and the backs of the hands are also commonly treated, as they show dehydration and fine crepiness early — so if it is your hands rather than your face that have stopped matching your age, that is a normal thing to raise.
Does my skin type rule me out?
No. Dry, oily and combination skin are all suitable, because oiliness and dehydration are separate things.
Oily skin can be dehydrated too. A complexion that is shiny by lunchtime and still feels tight is an extremely common presentation, and it is not a contradiction. The treatment is not restricted by skin type, so "my skin is too oily for a hydration treatment" is not a reason to rule yourself out before anyone has looked at it.
Who should not have it?
This is the section to read properly. It is not advised in three situations:
During pregnancy or breastfeeding. This is a standing exclusion, and it is not a matter of degree or timing within the appointment — if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, say so at the consultation before anything else is discussed, even if you think it is obvious.
With an active infection at or near the treatment site. Every micro-injection is a small break in the skin, so an infection already present in or near the area being treated is a reason not to proceed at that time. That covers more than the obvious: a cold sore, an inflamed spot in the area, broken or weeping skin. Tell the clinic if something has flared up between booking and your appointment rather than turning up and hoping it goes unnoticed. Being asked to come back another day is a normal, ordinary outcome, not a wasted trip.
Where there is known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid. If you have previously reacted to a hyaluronic acid product, that history belongs in the consultation whether or not you can name the product.
None of these three are judgement calls you should be making from a page. They are what you disclose so that a doctor can make the judgement.
What if my concern is really about volume?
Then this is not your treatment, and finding that out at consultation is a good outcome rather than a disappointing one.
The clinic's own first step is a skin consultation in which the doctor establishes whether your concern is hydration and texture, which this addresses, or volume loss, which it does not. Hollowing, flattening, a fold that has deepened — these are structural, and no amount of hydration injectable will move them. Expecting otherwise is the most common route to feeling that a treatment underdelivered when in fact it did exactly what it does.
What if I want something, but not necessarily this?
There is more than one injectable aimed at skin quality rather than shape. Profhilo is another, and skin botox works on a different mechanism again. Which is appropriate for you is a clinical judgement made after your skin has been examined, not a preference to be settled beforehand from descriptions.
That is worth saying because patients often arrive having decided the product and expecting to negotiate only the price. It is a better use of your ₹500 to arrive with the problem and let the plan be built around it.
Am I too young, or too late?
Neither question has a number attached to it here, and inventing one would not help you.
What is assessed is the state of your skin and what you want changed about it, not a birthday. If you have fine surface lines and dehydration, that is the concern this addresses whenever it appears. If what has developed is volume loss or a structural change, that remains outside its scope however old you are. The assessment is of the skin in front of the doctor.
What should I bring to the consultation?
Bring the things that actually change the decision:
- whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or planning to be;
- any previous reaction to a hyaluronic acid product, or any injectable;
- anything currently active on the skin in the area — an infection, a flare, a spot that has broken;
- what you would like to be different, in your own words rather than a product name;
- when you need to look your ordinary self by, if there is an event, since the effect peaks at around 10 to 14 days.
That last one changes planning more often than people expect, and it is easier to work with when it is mentioned at the start.
What should make me contact the clinic after treatment?
If you do go ahead, the expected picture is modest: redness, small bumps and mild swelling at the injection points, typically settling within 24 to 48 hours, with bruising and tenderness possible — particularly around the eyes — and generally resolving over a few days to a couple of weeks.
Contact the clinic rather than waiting or searching if:
- an area becomes hot, or pain builds through a day rather than easing;
- redness or swelling is spreading outwards, or is worse on day three than day one;
- any injection point discharges anything, which can indicate infection;
- you develop a rash, itching or swelling away from the treated area;
- you feel generally unwell in the days after treatment;
- something is worrying you and you would rather ask than sit with it.
Do not try to assess which of those is significant on your own. Describe what you can see, and when it started, and let the doctor who treated you decide whether you need to be seen in person.
So can this page tell me whether I am a candidate?
It can tell you whether it is worth the conversation. It cannot make the decision.
Candidacy here is a clinical judgement made by examining your skin, taking your history and hearing what you want changed — the three things a page cannot do. Two people with identical descriptions can receive different recommendations, and that is the assessment working rather than failing.
What will it cost?
No figure is published for the treatment itself, because what you pay depends on the area being treated and how many injection points it takes to cover it. Both are settled at the assessment.
The consultation is ₹500, waived against treatment.
Where to go next
The Volite treatment page sets out the full protocol, timings, aftercare and side effects if you would like the detail before deciding. When you would rather have your own skin assessed than measure yourself against a description, book an appointment at our Indiranagar or Bellandur clinic — and bring the exclusions above with you, honestly, even the ones you would rather not mention.
