Most patients experience none of these. Some patients, in rare cases, may notice the following — listed because you deserve the full picture before you decide.

Redness and small bumps at the injection points

Tiny raised bumps and mild redness where the needle went in are common and usually settle within an hour or two.

Bruising

Occasional, and more likely if you take blood-thinning medication or fish oil. It generally clears within a few days and can be covered with makeup after the first 24 hours.

Temporary heaviness or asymmetry

Uncommon, and usually a matter of the effect settling unevenly in the first fortnight. This is what the two-week review exists to catch and correct.

What exactly is Botox?

It is a purified botulinum toxin, injected in very small amounts to temporarily reduce the contraction of specific facial muscles. Less contraction means the skin over those muscles creases less.

Will my face look frozen?

That is a dosing question rather than something inherent to the treatment. The doctor here doses conservatively and reviews at two weeks, so the aim is softened lines with expression retained.

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe a brief sting at each injection point. The needles are very fine, and a numbing cream can be applied beforehand if you would prefer one.

How long before I see a result, and how long does it last?

Changes usually begin at around four to seven days and settle by two weeks. The effect typically lasts three to six months, after which the muscle gradually returns to its usual movement.

Is it safe?

Botulinum toxin has a long record of clinical use and the products used here are FDA-approved. Safety depends heavily on who is injecting, which is why every treatment at this clinic is performed by a doctor. Your medical history is reviewed first.

Who should not have this treatment?

It is not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if there is an active infection at the injection site, or with certain neuromuscular conditions. Tell your doctor about all medication, including blood thinners.

What happens if I stop having it?

Nothing sudden. The effect simply wears off over months and the muscle returns to its previous movement. Lines return to how they were, not worse.
