Microblading Aftercare: What to Ask For Before You Leave the Clinic

Microblading has minimal downtime, with light aftercare for the first week. The single most useful thing you can do about that week is to leave your appointment holding written instructions from the clinic that actually did the work — and to ring them, rather than search online, if anything worries you.

That sounds like a deflection. It is not. Aftercare instructions are specific to the person who worked on your brows, the pigment they used and the skin they worked on, and following a stranger's routine from a forum is how a good result gets undone. This article is about what to ask for and when, not a substitute for what your own clinic tells you.

What actually happens during the procedure?

Eyebrow Microblading places individual hair-like strokes rather than a block of colour. The strokes are mapped to your face shape, bone structure and skin tone, and the shape is agreed with you before any work starts.

The appointment runs under two hours. A numbing cream is applied beforehand, and most clients describe light scratching rather than pain. It is carried out by certified professionals under doctor supervision.

That mapping stage is worth arriving early for and worth being fussy about. It is the part of the process where your result is decided, and it is much easier to adjust a drawn shape than a completed one.

What should I ask before I leave?

Ask for the aftercare instructions in writing, and read them before you walk out rather than in an auto on the way home. Specifically, ask:

  • What exactly should I do, and avoid, during the first week?
  • What should the brows look like over the coming days, so I know what is normal?
  • What would count as a reason to call you, and on what number?
  • When is my touch-up, and when should I book it?

That third question is the one people forget, and it is the one that matters most at eleven at night when something looks different from how it looked that afternoon. Get a number you can actually reach.

Why does the first week need aftercare at all if microbladed brows survive everything?

Because settled brows and healing brows are two different things, and the difference matters.

Once healed, microbladed brows do not smudge, sweat off or wash away — gym, pool, monsoon, beach. That durability is the entire appeal, and it is genuine.

But the printed reality is also that the first week involves light aftercare. So do not treat day three like day thirty. Whatever your clinic tells you about that first week takes precedence over what the brows will eventually be able to withstand.

For Bangalore in particular, this is worth planning around rather than discovering. If your week involves a daily two-wheeler commute through dust, a gym session at the end of it, or the tail of the monsoon soaking you between the office and the car park, mention all of that at your appointment and ask how it bears on your first week specifically. A clinic that knows your actual routine can tell you what to adjust.

What is the touch-up for?

To perfect the finish. Results typically hold for 24 months or more depending on your skin type and aftercare, and a touch-up session keeps the strokes crisp.

Ask when yours is scheduled and put it in your calendar before you leave. It is part of the process rather than an optional extra, and it is the appointment at which anything that needs refining gets refined.

Will it look natural?

Yes, when the two things that decide it are done properly.

The first is the strokes. Individual hair-like strokes read differently from a filled-in block of colour, which is the whole technique.

The second is pigment. Pigments are selected for your undertone specifically, which matters a great deal across the range of Indian skin tones. Generic palettes are what turn ashy or reddish over time, and that is a matching decision made on the day rather than something that can be corrected later by wishing.

If you want to understand the pigment question in more depth, or you are considering other permanent makeup at the same time, Semi Permanent Makeup covers the category and Lip Micropigmentation has its own page. Raising them in one conversation tends to produce a more coherent result than deciding each separately months apart.

When should I call?

Whenever you are unsure. That is the honest answer and it is the right one.

There is no version of this where reading a stranger's account of their own healing is better information than a phone call to the people who did your brows and can see your record. If something looks or feels different from what you were told to expect, call. Nobody at a clinic minds that call, and everybody minds the one that comes a fortnight late.

Before you book

Ask what your aftercare week will involve before you commit, not after. If a provider cannot describe it clearly in advance, or cannot give you written instructions and a number to ring, that tells you something useful about how the rest will go.

To go through the mapping, the pigment choice and the aftercare properly, book an appointment at our Indiranagar or Bellandur branch. Come with your actual weekly routine in mind — the commute, the gym, the swim — because it is relevant to the advice you will be given.
