The Process of CoolSculpting
- Stubborn fat can accumulate in various parts of the body, such as the arms, legs, thighs, double chin, abdomen, bra fat, and flanks (sides of the body), due to lack of exercise and unhealthy dietary habits.
- Consult with your primary healthcare physician to determine if CoolSculpting is suitable for you. After this consultation, you will be taken to the CoolSculpting room.
- Prior to the treatment, a 360-degree assessment will be conducted.
- You will be provided with a disposable gown to change into for the duration of the treatment.
- The duration of the procedure varies between 35 to 90 minutes, depending on the targeted area.
- The doctor applies a gel pad and the applicator to the targeted area, delivering controlled cooling to the fat.
- The device is moved over the skin, administering suction and cooling to the targeted area for around 35-90 minutes per cycle. While mild sensations like tingling or pulling may be felt during the process, there is generally no pain. Patients often use this time to nap, read, watch a show, or listen to music.
- After the applicator is removed, the area is immediately massaged to break up any frozen deep tissue and help the body absorb the destroyed fat cells.
- Side effects during the procedure may include sensations of intense cold, tingling, stinging, pulling, aching, and cramping, which usually subside as the treatment area becomes numb.
- You can resume your normal activities immediately after the procedure as there is no downtime.
- Over the next few weeks, your body will naturally eliminate the frozen fat cells, resulting in up to a 20-25% reduction in fat.
- To prevent new fat cells from developing in the treated area, maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise routine.
- Schedule a follow-up medical assessment to review your results and discuss any further treatments needed to achieve your desired outcome.
Side Effects of CoolSculpting
Redness and bruising are common side effects that may occur on the treated areas but should subside within a few hours.
Numbness or a decrease in sensation in the treated area may occur after the procedure. Typically, sensation returns within 2 to 3 hours following treatment.
After the procedure, it's common to experience a tingling sensation, which is due to the nerves returning to their normal state. This sensation should subside over time.
Mild discomfort, such as slight pain or discomfort, may be experienced immediately after the treatment, but it should subside within a few hours.
