Under-Eye Hollows: Filler Answers One Cause, Not All of Them

The area under the eyes loses fat and bone support with age, and filler replaces that structure directly — which is why a face can look rested afterwards rather than simply smoother. That is a real mechanism for a real cause.

It is also a specific one. Filler adds volume where something is missing. If what is making your under-eyes look tired is not missing volume, then filler is not the treatment that addresses it, however well it works for the people it does suit. Establishing which situation you are in is the actual first step, and it is not a step you can complete by looking in a mirror.

What does filler actually do?

It adds structure rather than reducing movement. Dermal Fillers are gel-like injectables placed beneath the skin to restore volume that has been lost, soften deep creases and refine facial contour.

Because it is adding rather than relaxing, the change is visible almost immediately, settling fully over the following day or two. A session runs about 15 to 30 minutes once the consultation is done, with anaesthetic cream applied for 30 to 45 minutes beforehand, and most patients recover fully within one to two days.

Cheeks, temples and the under-eye area are named together in the treatment's own description for a reason — they are the places where lost fat and bone support show up as a face that reads as tired.

Why is the under-eye the place to be most careful?

Because of where the decisions are made. Product choice, plane and volume are decided by a doctor who knows the facial anatomy at each injection site — and the treatment page names that as the part of this treatment that most determines whether it goes well.

That sentence applies everywhere on the face, but the under-eye is not a region to be casual about. The three decisions are what you should be asking about: which product, at what depth, in what quantity, and on what anatomical reasoning for your face specifically. None of those can be answered from a photograph or a price list.

If a setting quotes you a figure before anyone has examined the area, the step that determines the outcome is the one being skipped.

So how do I know if mine is a volume problem?

You have it examined. That is the honest answer rather than a deflection.

What is worth understanding is the logic: filler is the answer to lost structure. A hollow that exists because support underneath has gone is the thing this treatment replaces. An under-eye that looks dark or tired for some other reason is a different problem, and filling it would be answering a question nobody asked.

This is also why a good consultation sometimes concludes that no treatment is indicated at all. That is a legitimate outcome and worth being open to. A doctor who tells you that what you are describing does not need injecting has given you something more valuable than an appointment.

Two things worth bringing: how long it has been this way, and whether it changes. Something that looks markedly different on a bad week than a good one is behaving differently from something steadily present for years, and that pattern is information.

How long does filler last?

Generally about six months to two years, depending on the type of filler, the area treated and your own metabolism. Your doctor should tell you what to expect for your specific plan rather than quoting you the range.

It is not permanent, and that is worth factoring in honestly. This is a treatment with a rhythm, not a single purchase — so the question of whether you are willing to return for it periodically belongs in the decision alongside everything else, rather than arriving as a surprise a year later.

What about the other treatments people mention?

Skin Boosters have their own page, their own protocol and their own indications. Whether one belongs in your plan is an assessment question rather than something to decide by reading three pages and picking.

Glutathione Injection comes up constantly in conversations about dark under-eyes, and one thing should be said plainly: using it for skin brightening is an off-label use with a thin evidence base. That is the honest position, and any clinic worth your time will say the same before discussing it further. Treat a confident promise about it as a reason for caution rather than reassurance.

Practically, in Bangalore

Recovery inside one to two days makes this straightforward to plan around a working week, though the under-eye is an area where "one to two days" is worth taking literally rather than optimistically — book it with a clear stretch afterwards rather than the evening before something that matters.

Both our Indiranagar and Bellandur branches run it. Choose whichever you can reach without racing across the city, since arriving rushed is a poor start to a consultation where you want to be asking careful questions.

The questions that settle it

Is what I have actually lost volume, on examination? If not, what is it, and does it need treating at all? Which product, at what depth, in what quantity, and why those? What should I expect at day one versus day two? And what happens if I am not happy?

To get those answered against your own face, book an appointment at our Indiranagar or Bellandur branch — and be ready for the possibility that the honest answer is to leave it alone.
