What are fat dissolving injections?

What they are

Injections that reduce fat in a small, defined area. They are placed into the area being treated rather than taken systemically.

What they are not

Two disclaimers, both from our own treatment page, both important:

• Not liposuction. Liposuction is a surgical procedure performed under anaesthetic that removes fat physically, and it achieves considerably more in one sitting.
• Not a weight-loss treatment. They do not change your weight and are not a treatment for general weight management.

If overall weight is the goal, this is the wrong tool — and being told so is the right outcome of a consultation.

The thing to expect that surprises people

The area swells first and then settles, so early on it can look larger rather than smaller.

This is the single most useful expectation to set for this treatment. Without it, a patient a week in reasonably concludes the treatment has made things worse and stops.

Real change becomes visible over the weeks that follow.

What it feels like

Most patients describe stinging during the injections and an aching, tender feeling for a few days afterwards. Numbing is used.

Compared with the cold-based alternative, the discomfort here is more spread out — less intense in the moment, more present over the following days.

Results depend on what you do afterwards

Yes, you still need to watch diet and exercise. Results hold best alongside a stable weight and consistent habits — without that, the surrounding fat simply changes around the treated area.

That is the honest framing: this reshapes a specific area, it does not exempt the area from what the rest of your body is doing.

Cost

We do not publish a lipolytic price. Since sessions are usually a course, ask for the per-session figure and the expected number of sessions together, plus what happens if more are needed than estimated.
