How long yours lasts depends on four things — the area treated, your skin type, how much sun you get, and what you put on your skin. Oily skin and acid-based skincare products both fade it faster.

What is semi permanent makeup, and where does the pigment go?
Medical-grade pigment is placed into the upper layers of the skin to define brows, lips or the lash line, so the definition is already there when you wake up. That is the whole proposition — the daily routine of drawing, filling and correcting simply goes away.
Semi Permanent Makeup covers three areas: brow definition, lip colour, and lash-line enhancement. A primary session typically runs one to two hours depending on the area, and it is carried out under medical supervision with clinical hygiene standards, single-use needles and a documented before-and-after record. This is a procedure that breaks the skin. It is not a salon service, and the distinction matters more than the marketing around it suggests.
The depth is the reason it fades at all. Pigment in the upper layers of skin sits where your skin is still renewing itself, which is exactly why the colour softens over time instead of locking you into one look forever.
Why does it fade faster on some people?
Four drivers, and you control two of them.
Skin type. Oily skin fades pigment faster. That is simply how oilier skin behaves with implanted colour, and it is not something you did wrong. If your skin runs oily — and in Bangalore's humid stretches plenty of skin that is normally balanced starts behaving that way — expect to be refreshing sooner than someone with drier skin.
Sun exposure. UV breaks pigment down. This is the one most people underestimate here, because the light in this city is bright and steady year-round rather than seasonal, and a daily commute on two wheels puts your face in it for a meaningful amount of time every single day. Brows and lips do not get the shade the rest of you does.
Your skincare. Acid-based products fade it faster. If your routine includes exfoliating acids, they are working on the surface layers of your skin, which is where the pigment sits. You do not necessarily have to give them up, but you should know the trade-off and keep them off the treated area.
The area itself. Brows, lips and lash line do not behave identically, which is part of why the honest answer to "how long" is area-dependent.
What about colour on Indian skin?
This is the question that decides whether the result looks natural, and it is worth being blunt about. A shade chosen from a generic palette can heal grey, ashy or orange on Indian skin.
Colour here is selected against your own undertone. That single choice most determines whether the result reads as natural or as obviously done. It is also why the shade that looked right on someone else's brows in a photograph is not evidence of anything about yours.

One thing that surprises almost everyone: the colour looks considerably stronger in the first days than it will once healed. Colour lifts and settles over roughly one to two weeks. If you look in the mirror on day two and panic, that is a normal part of the process rather than a bad result.
How many sessions, and does it hurt?
One primary session, plus a touch-up around six weeks later. The touch-up is part of the treatment, not an upsell — pigment does not heal perfectly evenly on anyone. Waiting the six weeks is deliberate: it corrects what healed unevenly once the colour has genuinely settled, which cannot be judged before then.
On discomfort, a numbing cream is applied first, and most patients describe a scratching or tingling sensation rather than pain. The lips are usually the most sensitive area, so plan for that if lips are what you are booking.
The part that is actually in your hands
You cannot change your skin type, and short of moving you cannot change the light in this city. What you can change is sun protection on the treated area and whether acids are going anywhere near it. Those two habits are the difference between refreshing sooner and refreshing later, and they cost nothing.
