Are skin boosters the same as fillers?

The short answer

No — and the difference is not subtle once you know what to look for.

Depth, purpose, result

Both commonly use hyaluronic acid, which is exactly why they get confused. The material overlaps; the formulation, the depth and the intention do not.

How to tell which you want

Ask what is actually bothering you:

• "This area looks hollow / flat / has lost definition." That is a volume and contour concern. A filler addresses it.
• "My features are fine, my skin looks dull, dry or crepey." That is a skin quality concern. A booster addresses it.

People sometimes arrive asking for a filler when the second description is theirs, and a good consultation redirects rather than obliges.

The family, which is genuinely confusing

Several products sit on the booster side and are described very similarly:

• Skin boosters generally — hyaluronic acid into the skin.
• Profhilo — designed to spread through the tissue rather than stay where it is placed.
• Volite — spread across an area as many micro-injections.
• SKINVIVE — a thinner formulation given as small spread-out injections specifically so it does not add volume, and studied for the cheeks.

Can you have both?

Combining volume correction with a skin-quality treatment is a common plan, but sequencing and suitability are clinical decisions. Ask at consultation rather than assuming — and expect the answer to depend on what each is being asked to do for your face.

What neither of them is

A booster will not lift or contour. A filler will not fix skin texture. Being sold one for the other's job is the most common way people end up disappointed by a technically well-performed treatment.
