How to Prepare for Korean HydraFacial (and What to Avoid Beforehand)

Preparing for a Korean HydraFacial mostly means not provoking your skin first. Pause strong actives in the days beforehand, do not book a session onto sunburn or an active flare, and tell the doctor about isotretinoin or any recent peel — that one disclosure changes how the exfoliation step is set more often than anything else you could do.

There is no fasting, no numbing cream and no product you need to buy. The session already runs 75 to 90 minutes and ends with sunscreen, so the work on your side is subtraction rather than addition. Below is what that actually looks like in the week before.

What should I stop before the session?

Strong actives at home, and specifically retinoids and acids. The protocol includes a mild acid exfoliation of its own, and arriving with skin that has already been exfoliated all week is how a deliberately gentle step ends up feeling like something harsher.

We are not going to print a fixed number of days here, because the honest answer is that it depends on what you are using and how your skin has been handling it. That window is set at your consultation, and it is one of the questions worth asking outright rather than guessing at. If you have a prescription-strength routine, do not stop it on your own initiative either — raise it with us first.

Sun exposure is the other thing to ease off. You cannot arrive with sunburn and proceed, so a beach weekend immediately before a booking is a scheduling mistake rather than a small one.

What must the doctor know?

Recent isotretinoin, strong retinoids, or a recent peel — each of these changes how the exfoliation step is set, and sometimes means deferring the session altogether. This is the single most useful thing you can bring to the appointment, and it is worth writing down rather than trusting to memory in the moment.

Beyond that, tell us about anything that has changed on your skin recently: a flare that comes and goes, a reaction to a product, an area that has become sensitive. The first of the fourteen steps is a doctor checking your skin type, your barrier condition, and anything active that would mean rescheduling rather than proceeding — and that check is only as good as what you tell us.

When should I not come at all?

Active rosacea, sunburn, infected breakouts or broken skin are all reasons to reschedule. A treatment that exfoliates and extracts can make each of those worse, so a session booked on top of them is not a session worth having.

Please do not sit at home deciding whether your skin qualifies. If you are not sure whether what you are looking at counts as active, call the clinic before the appointment and describe it — we would far rather move your slot than have you arrive hoping it will be fine, and rescheduling costs you nothing but a diary change.

Do I need to arrive with a bare face?

No. The session opens with two cleanses precisely because it assumes you have a face that has had a day on it — an oil-based cleanse to lift makeup, sunscreen and sebum, then a gentle water-based one to clear what the first one loosened. Come as you are.

What is worth avoiding on the day is anything unusual: a new product you have never used, a strong at-home mask that morning, or a threading or waxing appointment stacked immediately alongside. The core protocol does not set out timings for hair removal around a session, so if you have both in the same week, raise it and we will sequence them sensibly rather than you having to guess.

How far ahead of an event should I book?

Three to five days, not the day before. One session gives a visible same-day result, which is exactly why this is a common pre-wedding and pre-event booking — but leaving a few days lets any transient redness settle and gives the skin time to take up the hydration.

For a wedding specifically, a short course beforehand does more than a single session. This is a maintenance treatment: the result compounds with regularity, so booking monthly in the run-up is a better plan than one dramatic appointment on the eve of the event.

How do I fit it around work?

Block the appointment, not the recovery. There is no downtime at all — you can put makeup on and go back to work the same day, and any mild redness usually settles within an hour or two — so the only thing to plan around is the 75 to 90 minutes itself.

That is meaningfully longer than a standard Hydra Medi Facial, which runs closer to 45 minutes, so it tends to sit better at the end of a working day than inside a lunch break. We have clinics in Indiranagar and Bellandur, so the practical question is usually which one is on the right side of your commute.

What is settled at the consultation rather than in advance?

More than you might expect, and deliberately so. The exact window for pausing actives, whether a session should go ahead at all this week, whether you want a single visit or a monthly course, and the fee all get settled once a doctor has seen your skin. We do not publish a single figure for this protocol for that reason.

For reference on what sits around it: a standard Hydra Medi Facial starts from ₹2,999 per treatment, every Korean HydraFacial session includes a complimentary chemical peel that is a ₹1,999 session on its own, and the consultation is ₹500, waived against treatment.

What happens straight afterwards, and what should prompt a call?

Sunscreen daily without exception, because exfoliated skin burns more easily for several days — which is why the session itself ends with it. Skip the gym, sauna and steam for about 48 hours, and hold off on retinoids or acids at home for a few days. Keep everything else simple; the barrier work is undone by layering strong actives straight on top of it.

Two things belong with us rather than with an internet search. Mild redness is common right after extraction and is usually gone within an hour or two — if it is still there a day later, contact the clinic rather than treating it at home. Small breakouts occasionally surface in the first week where congestion was already forming; those settle on their own, but call us if they spread, become painful, or have not settled. Neither is something to self-assess.

Book the consultation first

The preparation that matters most is the conversation. Book a consultation at Indiranagar or Bellandur — ₹500, waived against treatment — and we will tell you what to pause, when to come, and whether the fourteen-step Korean HydraFacial or the shorter session suits your skin.
